JUNIORS

We believe that every child is created for a purpose

We offer a Grade RR program that caters to the unique needs of children from 4 years old to 5 years old.  During this phase children are enjoying the development of language skills and mathematics skills.  We encourage children to make decisions that will have good outcomes so that they can assist their friends and the children younger than them.

We have 30 different themes that we explore throughout the year, most of the themes run for a two week period and have worksheets, construction play, sensory equipment, stories, art and crafts, manipulative play, mathematics and language incorporated into them.  The children are able to learn so much about the world around them including science and geography.

We introduce the children to the Montessori mathematics area with materials that are specifically designed to provide the use of hands-on materials designed around the decimal system, so the children learn important mathematical principles. If a child is able to learn during this stage when they enjoy manipulating materials, they will be able to more easily and successfully assimilate the skills and knowledge of arithmetic. The children will learn how to write their numbers during this time and how to count using objects.

We also introduce the children to the Montessori language area with materials

that are specifically designed to naturally lead to the development of skills required

for oral and written language. Children use sandpaper letters to learn the alphabet

phonetically and to learn the formation of each letter.  We also keep a library of

books designed specifically for early readers.  We also do control writing sheets as

well as using the writing stencils.  We use books with alphabet writing and coloring

games that each student will use to practice their alphabet skills.  We also use a

grade RR workbook, that each student gets at the beginning of the year and we

work through it daily.
